What kind of Asian market is this?
We are not your average "Asian" market! We are a micro-market specializing in high-quality, up and coming, unique brands and products representing many Asian countries and cuisines, including American. We are NOT focused on any one region nor do we stock every item you may be accustomed to finding in smaller or larger mainstream chain Asian markets,.
What motivated you to open this store?
Let’s face it: the Hi-Dez is not very diverse, but IT IS changing! Tired of waiting for someone to open a store like this in the area, we decided to do it ourselves! Connecting with the local community through retail therapy and sharing our love of cooking has been so much fun!
What are your hours?
We are currently open Wednesday to Sunday from 9am-6pm, including throughout this summer. Any changes will be posted ASAP.
Do you offer special ordering services?
At this time, we do not currently have the capacity to offer special ordering services for customers; however, we are listening to your ideas and requests! If we have enough people asking for the same items, we will try and stock them.
Will you have foods-to go someday?
Where do you get your produce from?
We source our produce from at least three distributors: Worldwide Produce, Charlie’s Produce, and on occasion, direct from farmer’s markets, like Farmer in the Dale in Morongo Valley. We try to carry organic/non-GMO, but Asian produce especially is very difficult to find organic/non-GMO.
Do you offer any local discounts?
We currently offer a local’s rewards program, where every $1 = 1 point. We sign you up on our Clover POS using a phone number or email. Collect 100 points to get $5 off your next purchase! Additionally, we offer a discount for seniors, military, and veterans.
Do you accept EBT & SNAP benefits?
Our store is currently undergoing a review with the Food & Nutrition Service (FNS) under the USDA. This process takes some time, but we hope to accept EBT and SNAP benefits in our store soon.
Will you offer demos and cooking classes?
At this time, we are putting on hold any plans to offer cooking classes or demos. Please follow us on Instagram or Facebook to stay updated.
Do you have dark soy sauce?
Yes, we actually carry hard-to-find dark soy sauce! In case we run out due to high demand, you can always add more regular soy sauce to your recipe, adding some molasses, brown sugar, maple syrup, or honey.
Do you have eel sauce?
We do not plan to carry eel sauce, but we can recommend you DIY with ingredients you already have in your home! FYI: There’s no actual eel, but equal parts soy sauce, sugar, and mirin.
Do you have gift cards?
YES! We can create digital gifts cards in any dollar amount. They can either be texted or emailed to you or to another person.
